Stuart man arrested after allegedly launching explosive projectiles at neighbor's home

Police executed a search warrant on the suspect's home, where they found fireworks, illegal firearms and a "hitlist."

STUART, Iowa — A Stuart man was arrested Saturday after allegedly launching explosive projectiles at a neighbor's home, the Stuart Police Department said in a press release.

52-year-old Bobby Glenn Agan is charged with the following:

  • Stalking - Possession of Dangerous Weapon
  • Unauthorized Possession of an Offensive Weapon
  • Felon in Possession of a Firearm

In addition, Agan faces multiple drug-related charges.

Agan's arrest comes after a month-long investigation by Stuart police. Officials received reports of a person launching "various hard metal projectiles" toward a home on South Gaines Street over a period of several weeks. Some of the projectiles were attached to fireworks.

"These actions caused considerable damage to the home and distress to the residents," Stuart police said.

Police eventually executed a search warrant at Agan's home on Aug. 16 and 17. There, they found launching devices, items attached to fireworks, illegal firearms and a "hitlist" containing the names of local officers.

During an interview with police, Agan admitted to possessing fireworks and told investigators he was lighting fireworks off to upset or scare the victim, according to a criminal complaint.

Agan was booked into Adair County Jail. Police say additional charges may be filed.
