Des Moines police arrest suspect in connection to May 17 shooting at Lauridsen Skatepark

The suspect is charged with attempted murder, a Class B felony.

DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines man is charged with attempted murder following a shooting near the Lauridsen Skatepark on May 17, police said in a press release.

30-year-old Tereall Deshawn Green was arrested Tuesday at a residence in south Des Moines.

Green's arrest comes nearly two weeks after police responded to the sound of gunshots in a parking lot near Lauridsen Skatepark, located at 901 2nd Ave., on May 17. Officers found several shell casings at the scene.

As officers began investigating, they were notified a person with a gunshot injury had arrived at a local hospital. Police responded to the hospital, where they found a 20-year-old man who had been shot at the scene on 2nd Avenue.

DMPD detectives interviewed witnesses and examined evidence from the shooting. Based on an investigation, police concluded the shooting was part of an attempted robbery.

Police believe the victim and a friend were sitting in a car at the skatepark when Green pulled out a gun and attempted to rob the victim. The victim was shot in the abdomen during a struggle over the gun.

Green is charged with attempted murder, a Class B felony. He is currently being held at Polk County Jail.
