Urbandale man charged with human trafficking, soliciting sexual activity

An undercover officer met with the suspect, who allegedly said he would pay the officer for the chance to have sex with a 13-year-old.

ALTOONA, Iowa — An Urbandale man was arrested Wednesday following a human trafficking investigation, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

69-year-old Kevin Charles Lind faces the following charges:

  • Human Trafficking
  • Solicitation of Commercial Sexual Activity
  • Enticing Minor Under 16
  • Conspiracy to Commit a Forcible Felony

The Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force (MINE) received information that Lind was soliciting for an opportunity to have sex with a minor, the sheriff's office said. An undercover officer met with Lind, who allegedly said he would pay the officer for the chance to have sex with a 13-year-old.

Lind gave the officer money and agreed to meet at a secondary location. When Lind arrived at the location, he was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail.

The sheriff's office said Lind later told investigators he believed the person he would be meeting was under 18 years old.
