A representative for the store had no comment when Local 5 reached out for more information.

VAN METER, Iowa — A man faces criminal charges after driving into the side of Casey's General Store in Van Meter on Monday, according to court documents.

31-year-old Ryland Porter allegedly drove a truck through the Casey's parking lot at around 9:30 a.m. Monday before coming to a stop, making a left turn and hitting the north wall of the building.

The truck pushed through the wall, causing kitchen shelves and cooking equipment to fly around the kitchen. The criminal complaint against Porter said in-store cameras show an employee being struck by debris, causing injury.

Porter then backed out of the building and struck an unattended vehicle before leaving the scene. Porter and the damaged truck were both located at his residence.

Porter was taken to Dallas County Jail but was released Monday evening.

He faces the following criminal charges:

  • Operating While Under the Influence
  • Leave Scene of Accident — Injury
