Court documents: Multiple people involved in fight that led to fatal Waukee stabbing

The 16-year-old remains in the custody of the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.

WAUKEE, Iowa — The Waukee Police Department has arrested and charged a 16-year-old male connection to a fatal stabbing from earlier this month.

The Waukee resident has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree after officers were called to a home on Monday, Aug. 5 in the 600 block of Prairie Park Lane. First responders found 23-year-old Brian McGee with stab wounds he suffered during an altercation.

McGee died after being transported to a Des Moines hospital.

"The incident was isolated in nature and related to a single residence within the City of Waukee," the police department said. "There was no danger to other residents of Waukee, nor was there ever any danger to the general public."

According to a criminal complaint in the case, a fight took place inside the home and "moved to outside the front of the residence to the street."

Investigators said "approximately" five people were fighting in total before the suspect allegedly stabbed McGee "several times."

The 16-year-old remains in custody of the Dallas County Sheriff's Office. The office said it will not release any more information on the incident.
