WEBSTER CITY, Iowa — A Webster County man faces multiple charges in connection to a fatal accident that occurred in September 2023, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office

40-year-old Dustin Humlicek faces the following charges:

  • Homicide by Vehicle - Operating Under the Influence
  • Operating While Under The Influence 1st Offense
  • Driving with a Suspended License

On Sept. 2, 2023, law enforcement responded to a crash at 1751 210th St. in Webster City at 3:03 a.m. When they arrived, first responders found Humlicek and a passenger, 48-year-old Kevin Beightol.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office reports Humlicek was driving his truck northbound on North Des Moines Street when he failed to stop for a stop sign at 210th Street. The truck entered a ditch and came to rest in a residential yard.

While on the scene, a Hamilton County sheriff's deputy observed "the odor of an alcoholic beverage" coming from Humlicek, according to a criminal complaint. A blood sample from Humlicek later revealed he had a BAC of 0.083, as well as the presence of marijuana in his system.

Both men were transported to Des Moines hospitals following the crash. Beightol died of his injuries later that day.
