DES MOINES- If you love baby animals, the Iowa State Fair has some new technology for you. Text alerts will now let you know when a baby animal is about to be born at the Paul Knapp Animal Learning Center.
Every year, this building is a popular spot with fair goers. People crowd around pens to see everything from cows and pigs to goats and ostrich take their first breaths. Sometimes people wait around the building just to see the moment of birth.
No you can text “BABY” to 75782, and you will get a text alert when a baby animal is about to be born. State Fair Marketing Director Mindy Williamson says the idea is to let people walk around and enjoy the fair without the fear that they may miss something.
Williamson adds there are plenty more babies on the way, so sign up for the alerts and get ready for a special delivery.
