'PSAT perfection': ADM student answers every question correctly

Adel De Soto Minburn High School student Patrick achieved "PSAT perfection" with a score of 1520 on the standardized test — the highest-possible score.

ADEL, Iowa — Standardized tests are some students' biggest nightmare, but one central Iowa teen knocked it out of the park.

Adel De Soto Minburn High School student Patrick achieved "PSAT perfection" with a score of 1520 on the standardized test — the highest-possible score.

The exam, which is taken nationally by sophomores and juniors to determine their eligibility for the National Merit Scholarship Program, quizzes the teens on math and reading/writing with 98 questions.

Nationally, the average score is 977, while Iowa students typically score around 1076, according to the school.

Mrs. Knipper, the Gifted and Talented Education instructor at ADM, said that Patrick is humble about his success on the test.

But that didn't stop the school from shouting him out, sharing in the announcement: "We are all so incredibly proud of Patrick and we cannot wait to see where his path takes him!"
