PERRY, Iowa — Perry High School has named a new principal, just a few months after the deadly school shooting.
Brad Snowgren has been promoted to permanently serve as principal of the high school after serving as interim principal since January, the Perry Community School District said in a press release.
As interim principal, Snowgren has had experience overseeing daily operations and overseeing the building's construction and remodeling process.
"I am deeply honored and humbled to lead Perry High School as the high school principal," Snowgren said in a statement. "As principal, I look forward to guiding our students towards success in both academics and character development.”
Snowgren succeeds Principal Dan Marburger, who lost his life in the shooting on Jan. 4 after putting himself in harm's way to protect students.
Prior to his time as interim principal, Snowgren served as associate principal of Perry High School for more than six years. Snowgren began his career in education in the Fairfield Community School District.
Snowgren will begin his new role on July 1.
