DES MOINES, Iowa — College Savings Iowa has been rebranded to ISave 529, the state treasurer's office announced this week.
The new name for Iowa's 529 plan hopes better encompass what saving for education might look like, from K-12 tuition to apprenticeship programs, according to the news release.
"We have worked diligently to spread the word about the flexibility of using a 529 plan to help with all of these options, and ISave 529 represents our commitment to making education savings a reality for any student’s dream,” Treasurer Roby Smith said in a statement.
ISave529 is hosting a $5,290 giveaway to celebrate the rebrand.
Along with the name change, Smith announced updates to the plan including new age-bands and portfolios for some of the investment options, and an increase to the maximum amount an account owner can contribute.
"Providing options and an easy way to save has always been our number one priority, and these changes reflect that," Smith said.
