IOWA CITY, Iowa — EA Sports "College Football 25" returns to consoles on July 19, releasing on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The return to the college football series will be the first edition made since 2013.
The website boasts new features that are supposed to make the game as in-depth and unique as possible. Various game modes include Dynasty, where you bring a team to glory with your own created coach, or win yourself your very own Heisman Trophy as a player in Road to Glory.
With multiple new features in the game, here's a breakdown of what to expect.
Teams without the "Homefield Advantage" in "College Football 25" will be negatively impacted by in-game modifiers, including blurred routes, a shaking screen and more.
Some stadiums are more difficult to play in than others, however. Kinnick Stadium ranks 20th in the "Toughest Places to Play" category out of 25 total locations. Jack Trice Stadium doesn't make the list.
In terms of Offensive Power Rankings, neither Iowa nor Iowa State appear in the top 25 teams. Georgia and Oregon tied for the top Offensive Power Ranking spot at a 94 overall rating (OVR).
On the flip side, Iowa ranked 13th in Defensive Power Rankings with an 88 OVR, far behind Ohio State with a 95 OVR. Iowa also ranked 25th in Overall Power Rankings with a 87 OVR, while Georgia topped the list with a 95 OVR.
Iowa State did not appear in either of the top 25 rankings. All rankings are subject to change in future updates of the game.
EA's "CampusIQ Gameplay" introduces new features to show the depth of college football, while keeping the game fast-paced.
One of those systems is the "Wear and Tear System," which includes managing the health of individual players, limiting their fatigue with strategic substitutions, assessing possible injury risks and encouraging players to avoid on-field mistakes.
As the quarterback, you will be able to gather the information that you need to know by reading the field and players to make important decisions before you even snap the ball. Just be sure your center can hear you through the noise of the stadium!
Adding on to the previously discussed "Homefield Advantage" system, it will be vital to control your team's road game composure to mitigate as many of the disadvantages when playing away games as possible.
EA has stated that they created the game with the mindset that "every team is someone's favorite team." As a result, an incredible level of detail went into recreating the sights, sounds and traditions of the 134 FBS schools.
Details include team traditions, team runouts, mascots and more, all captured via motion capture technology, campus visits and meticulous filming. For example, Hawkeye fans can witness the iconic Hawkeye Wave at Kinnick Stadium while playing the game, as shown in the Deep Dive trailer.
"College Football 25" is going all-out with its crowds. From the noise level, to themed games such as "black out" or "striped" games, every match-up will feel unique.
While the official soundtrack for the game hasn't been revealed yet, but the music featured in the game's trailer may give players a taste of what's to come.
