Boil Advisory

CLARION, Iowa — The city of Clarion is under a boil advisory due to a recent water main break, officials said in a press release.

City officials warned citizens of the boil advisory on Sunday after a "massive water main break," telling Clarion residents that the boil advisory will be in effect until further notice.

Clarion residents are urged to bring water to a boil for approximately 3 minutes before letting it cool before use, as well as discarding any current ice cubes people may have that are made from tap water.

Residents should boil any water that would be used for consumption, food preparation, washing dishes or brushing teeth.

The city says bacteria testing can take "up to at least 48 hours" and that "all tests must come back negative before we can lift the boil order."
