JOHNSTON, Iowa — LifeServe Blood Center has officially opened its new headquarters in Johnston, while also closing its previous HQ in downtown Des Moines' East Village.
The changes can be seen reflected on the locations tab of their website.
In an August 2023 press release, LifeServe announced that Des Moines donations were shifted to their location at 580 SW 9th St, Suite 112 before the East Village location was closed last week.
"LifeServe donors have encouraged a late Spring/early Summer 2024 move to a larger headquarter facility in Johnston, Iowa which will house a blood donation center, a state-of-the-art laboratory, and team member workspaces," the organization said in August 2023.
“We are excited to welcome donors into our new state-of-the-art facility. After doing an evaluation of our donor population, we determined that nearly 5,000 of them live within five minutes of Johnston so we hope that this new location makes blood donation convenient for our donors,” LifeServe CEO/President Stacy Sime said this week. “This particular location is the perfect place for us to continue to keep a strong community presence.”
The company hopes to now offer a more complete presence to central Iowa as they now offer five different locations for blood donations: Ankeny, downtown Des Moines, West Des Moines, Urbandale and now Johnston.
The brand-new headquarters will be open six days a week at 5625 NW Johnston Dr.
The hours of operation will be as follows for the Johnston location:
- Monday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Tuesday: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- Wednesday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
