ROCKWELL CITY – One of Urbandale’s finest on the force, 24-year-old officer Justin Martin, was laid to rest in Rockwell City Tuesday night.
In an emotional and intimate setting inside the middle school he grew up in, Martin’s friends, family, and fellow police officers crowded into the school, paying their respects and honoring the memory of Justin.
“He was a man of integrity,” said Chief Ross McCarty of the Urbandale Police Department. “We were not prepared to have Justin’s life stolen from us. All of us feel that pain. At just 24 years old, there’s no doubt in this room that he had a bright future ahead.”
Officer Brady Farrington reflected on his time growing up with officer Martin in Rockwell city., and later on going on to serve with Justin in Urbandale.
“He committed his life to selfless service of others Justin was the best humanity has to offer,” said Farrington.
