DALLAS COUNTY- The man accused of drop-kicking Sabrina Ray, the Perry teen who died in her home, has been deemed competent to stand trial.

21-year-old Justin Dale Ray, the biological son of Marc and Misty Ray, underwent a psychiatric evaluation and will stand trial as scheduled.

In documents filed Tuesday, Dr. James Gallagher completed an evaluation of Ray and “believes that Mr. Ray is competent to stand trial and can assist in his own defense”.

Ray is charged with two counts of Child Endangerment and two counts of Willful Injury, and is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond. Ray’s jury trial is scheduled to begin September 18.

A pretrial conference for 20-year-old Josie Bousman, another defendant in the case and the adoptive cousin of Sabrina, has been continued to September 18.

Sabrina’s adoptive grandmother, 62-year-old Carls Bousman, and Justin Ray have pretrial conferences in Dallas County court Friday morning.
