ACKLEY, Iowa — Water has been restored in the city of Ackley, just a day after the city reported a "water emergency" following a water main break Wednesday afternoon, according to the City of Ackley Facebook page.
The city announced online it would shut down all water infrastructure around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The city also instated a boil order for a minimum of 48 hours.
As of Thursday evening, however, all residents should have water services. If there is low water pressure, residents are encouraged to keep faucets running to "help with the bleeding of air in the lines."
Residents of Ackley remain under a boil order until further notice. Under the boil order, Ackley residents are asked not to drink or use tap water for cooking before it has been boiled. Water should be boiled for one minute and be allowed to cool before using. Alternatively, residents can use bottled water.
Hy-Vee donated more than 1,500 24-bottle packs of water to be distributed to Ackley residents during the emergency. Residents picked up packs at the Ackley Fire Department Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
