Altoona Fire Department: 1 hospitalized with severe burns after trailer fire

The fire was put out within 45 minutes by the Ankeny, Des Moines, and Pleasant Hill Fire Departments.

ALTOONA, Iowa — The Altoona Fire Department is investigating an overnight trailer fire that left one person with severe burns. 

Crews responded to a fire at a large moving trailer behind a home on NE 80th Street in Altoona around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday. 

The trailer was fully engulfed by flames, and one injured male was found outside of the trailer. He was taken to a local trauma center, where he's receiving treatment for severe burn injuries. 

The fire was put out within 45 minutes by the Ankeny, Des Moines, and Pleasant Hill fire departments. 

At this point in time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
