IOWA CITY, Iowa — Buena Vista County is seeing a rapid increase of COVID-19 infections, so much so that it's now on FEMA's top 10 list with the highest number of cases per 100,000 in the last two weeks.
A document obtained by ABC News shows each county and their data from May 9 to May 23. The document shows that Buena Vista saw 181 new cases in that time.
According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, only 252 cases have been confirmed in that county, which doesn't seem like a lot when compared to Polk County, which is nearing 4,000 total.
However, Buena Vista is seeing 1,268 cases per 100,000 people. Polk County only has 784 cases per 100,000 people.
