DMPD: Investigation ongoing into University Avenue shooting

Witnesses told police a second vehicle may have been the target of the shooting.

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department is investigating a potential drive-by shooting on Sunday afternoon. 

Police say shots were fired from a vehicle near the intersection of 25th Street and University Avenue, in the Drake Neighborhood, around 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18.

Witnesses reported a second vehicle may have been the target of the shooting, though it's unconfirmed at this time. Police told Local 5 there were no injuries and no damages from the shooting, and no suspect is in custody yet.

Police believe there is no ongoing threat to the area.
