Des Moines police: Separate crashes on SE 14th Street temporarily close lanes

​Des Moines police and fire departments are asking everyone to expect temporary delays near SE 14th Street as investigations continue.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Two separate crashes on SE 14th Street caused injuries and affected traffic on Saturday night, according to the Des Moines Police Department. 

The first crash happened around 7 p.m. near the intersection of SE 14th Street and King Avenue. A caller told police a car hit a pedestrian. Northbound lanes were shut down as law enforcement responded, reopening just after 8 p.m. 

Around half an hour later, a crash at SE 14th Street and Virginia Avenue closed southbound lanes. At least one person was injured in the crash, though police have not released any more information yet. 

Des Moines police and fire departments are still responding to the crash. Expect delays in the area as investigation is ongoing.
