Des Moines Police Department investigating downtown shooting

Officers said the victim arrived at a local hospital just after 4 a.m. Friday.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police are investigating a shooting downtown Friday morning that hospitalized one person.

Officers say the victim showed up at a local hospital shortly after 4 a.m. Friday. Police located the scene near 2nd and Crocker Avenues, across from the Iowa Events Center.

Officers said there is no indication of ongoing danger to the neighborhood. The hospitalized person is a 20-year-old male, DMPD said.
