DES MOINES, Iowa — An urban farm located in Des Moines will close at the end of September.
Dogpatch Urban Gardens, which specializes in growing fresh, local food, announced on Facebook it will host its last event on Sept. 29.
"I have been blessed along this journey of owning a small business," Dogpatch Urban Gardens owner Jenny Quiner wrote in a newsletter. "I have connected with so many amazing people within our Des Moines community and beyond. I've had an outstanding crew throughout the years and I love all they have done to help grow our business. Thank you all for being a part of this chapter in my family's ever-growing storybook."
The farm was founded in 2017. Since then, Dogpatch has grown significantly, expanding its mission to sell goods in grocery stores, host farm-to-table dinners and rent out its own Airbnb.
Quiner said the decision comes with "bittersweet emotions," but ultimately she hopes to devote more time to her family and rest her mind and body.
"There are so many positives that arise from our local business and yes, it will be hard to let it go," Quiner wrote. "This change will be hard, but I know this is the right decision for me and my family."
With just over a month left until Dogpatch's final event, Quiner hopes to finish strong. The farm will host two farm-to-table dinners before closing, both of which are already sold out.
Dogpatch Urban Gardens will host its final event, Flannel Fest, on Sunday, Sept. 29. The event is open to the public.
