STORY CITY – Agriculture jobs will be moving from Iowa to Illinois after an announcement that two seed company locations in Iowa owned by DowDuPont will close.

Prairie Brand Seeds in Story City and NuTech Seed in Ames are both moving to Champaign, Illinois.

“We intend to close the Prairie Brand facility in Story City,” DowDuPont said in a statement to Local 5. “Some of the Prairie Brand employees will be offered roles with a go forward regional seed brand, but it is premature to discuss exact impacts.”

NuTech’s headquarters will be moved to what is now the office of Pfister Seeds in Champaign, as the company tries to expand access to the company’s seed technology and genetics.
