One of two former football players at an Iowa community college has been sentenced for his role in a fight.
20-year-old Darryl Kelley, who pleaded guilty to willful injury causing bodily injury, was sentenced to a 5-year suspended prison term in Webster County Court and placed on probation.
Kelley and 19-year-old Jesse Driver Jr., who were both members of the Iowa Central Community College football team at the time, were arrested October 30 following a fight in a Fort Dodge alley. Fort Dodge police say the victim was “not engaged” in the fight.
Driver Jr. has pleaded not guilty to his charge, and is scheduled for a January 2019 jury trial.
Neither play is currently listed on the current Iowa Central football roster.
