DES MOINES – The average Iowa school teacher is earning about $56,000 a year, according to new numbers from the Iowa Legislative Services industry.
New data was released on Tuesday. Local 5 looked through the document. It shows that the highest teacher salary is about $69,000, and that teacher works at the Iowa City Community School District. The lowest school teacher salary is in the Diagonal School District. That salary is about $38,000 a year.
The data from the state agency also outlines the average superintendent salary in Iowa. That average tops at about $151,000 a year. Des Moines, Iowa’s largest school district, has the highest superintendent salary, sitting at $302,043.
