DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee Hall at the Iowa Events Center will soon be operating under a new name.

The event space will be renamed the EMC Expo Center, effective Jan. 1, 2025. The new name is part of a 10-year naming partnership with EMC Insurance.

"As a Des Moines-based company, EMC Insurance embodies the spirit of community partnership and has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to enhancing downtown Des Moines," said Polk County Board Chair Angela Connolly in a press release. "Their values align perfectly with our vision, making them an ideal naming partner."

EMC Insurance was founded in Des Moines in 1911 and has remained downtown ever since.

“A venue like this is so important for a city to have, and we are thrilled that our name will be attached to a space that will host so many meaningful events for so many people and organizations," said Scott Jean, EMC president and CEO.

The expo center's original naming partner, Hy-Vee, decided not to renew its agreement with the venue. The Polk County Board of Supervisors will vote on the proposed name change for at their meeting Tuesday.

Wells Fargo Arena, which is also located in the Iowa Events Center, will also get a rebrand in 2025. Polk County leaders announced last month the venue would be renamed Casey's Center, effective July 1.
