I-35 blocked temporarily by camper that caught fire

The husk of the camper was backing up both lanes.

ALLEMAN, Iowa — A camper trailer was burned to a husk Thursday evening near mile marker 100 northbound on I-35 in an incident which left both lanes backed up according to Iowa State Patrol.

There were no injuries in the incident and the the trailer was able to be detached from the truck before the fire was too large.

The right lane was initially blocked from exit 96 to exit 102 according to Iowa 511, but it became a full road closure due to the intensity of the vehicle fire.

The roadway was reopened just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday evening after the fire was put out and the shell of the camper trailer was moved to the shoulder. One lane was still closed at that time.
