GUTHRIE COUNTY, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating after an Illinois man died while hunting on Saturday.
According to a DNR release, 26-year-old Seth Egelhoff, of Chesterfield, Ill., was shot in the face around 1 p.m. while he was hunting at Bays Branch Wildlife Area in Guthrie County.
Panora EMS attempted to fly Egelhoff to a nearby hospital for further treatment, but he died from his injuries while on the way.
The wildlife area is still open to the public as the Iowa DNR Law Enforcement Bureau continues investigating.
