ANKENY, Iowa — An Iowa State Patrol speed project resulted in dozens of cars being stopped on Interstate 35 near Ankeny.
Troopers pulled over 30 cars for speeding on Friday between Oralabor and 1st Street, Iowa State Patrol says.
One driver was registered going 144 mph.
Their excuse? The driver "wanted to have a little fun," according to Iowa State Patrol.
Troopers say the car was towed and the driver was sent to the Polk County jail.
The driver has been charged with speed and reckless driving.
This is not the only speed project being conducted. The Iowa State Patrol recently partnered with Des Moines police to address speeding on I-235 and Highway 5.
