MANSON – Millions of dollars in farm equipment is now gone after a fire in Manson. It happened at the K.C. Nielson John Deer implement Sunday afternoon. Massive flames were shooting out of the building but luckily no one was inside during the fire. It has been about 24 hours since that fire ripped through the facility. Owners say they’re already working to rebuild.
Tony Nielsen owns the dealership. His son told him about the roaring flames just after three Sunday afternoon. “My son had been down here prior than me being here and he said the building looked like it would be a total loss.”
Sadly, he was right. The blaze consumed a good chunk of the building, especially on the south-side side of the building. Fire fighters tried to salvage the expensive equipment inside, but it got too dangerous. “It got to hot inside and that’s when you get a little concern for safety.”
Luckily, no employees were injured because the shop was closed. Crews who responded to the inferno didn’t run with the same luck. At least two were sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation but will be okay.
As for Nielsen, he knows it’s gonna take a while to rebuild. But he says he’s up for the challenge. “You gotta move one when these things happen and the community support has been awesome.”
There is no word on how much it will cost to build a new facility. Neilsen is waiting to hear if his insurance will cover his losses.
It is still unclear how the fire started.
