Marshalltown Fire Department: Air fryer started fire at house on Sunday

Crews say the occupant escaped from the house and reported the kitchen fire to authorities around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17.

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — A fire caused by an air fryer damaged a single-story home in Marshalltown on Sunday afternoon, according to a release from the Marshalltown Fire Department.

Crews say the occupant escaped from the house and reported the kitchen fire to authorities around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17. 

The blaze at the Washington Street residence was extinguished quickly, though the fire department was at the scene for two hours. 

Family, friends and the Red Cross are assisting the homeowner after the fire.
