DES MOINES, Iowa — The Metro Star Tactical Unit was called in to the King Irving neighborhood to help Des Moines police detectives arrest a kidnapping suspect Saturday.
Officials say DMPD officers were called to a fight in the 800 block of E. Washington Avenue around 12:30 a.m.
Once on scene, officers were told 33-year-old Troy Lee Mure Jr. of Des Moines had entered his ex-girlfriend's house while armed with a handgun. Witnesses told police that Mure had struck the woman in the head with the gun, before forcing her into a car and driving away.
The woman suffered injuries, including lacerations, swelling and abrasions, according to a news release.
Police were able to locate the vehicle nearby. As they approached, the victim jumped from the car and Mure sped away.
Officers were then not immediately able to find Mure or the vehicle.
The vehicle was later found, unoccupied, in the 1300 block of E. 12th Street. Even after a K9 unit was deployed, Mure's location was still unknown.
Crimes Against Persons detectives began investigating the incident. Warrants were obtained for Mure's residence in the 1500 block of Washington Avenue and the Metro STAR team were asked to assist due to the serious nature of the alleged.
Officials arrived to the residence shortly before 5 p.m. and lured him out of the house. Mure was taken into custody, without incident.
Mure has been charged with the following charges:
• Kidnapping - 1st Degree (Class A felony)
• Burglary - 1st Degree (Class B felony)
• Going Armed With Intent (Class D felony)
• Felon In Possession Of A Firearm (Class D felony)
• Domestic Abuse Assault With A Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
• Assault While Displaying A Dangerous Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
• Interference With Official Acts (Simple Misdemeanor)
He is being held at the Polk County Jail.
