MASON CITY – Cerilla Doyle was last seen 10 years ago on an Arkansas surveillance video buying a bus ticket to Tulsa, Oklahoma.

It’s unclear if she ever got onto that bus. The Bentonville Police Department in Arkansas began a missing person investigation involving Doyle on Oct. 27, 2008.

On May 20, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office received word of discovered human remains. It’s now confirmed that the skeletal remains recovered outside Mason City belong to Doyle, a police officer from Bentonville.

There is currently no indication of foul play. Arkansas police determined Doyle left voluntarily and no contact had been made with her since she went missing.

Doyle’s mother, Betty Counts, says they always held out hope and this is not the outcome her family wanted. “I knew she wouldn’t leave us for that long without something being wrong, because she loved her family too much,” she told Local 5 News.

Investigations are still ongoing surrounding the circumstances of Doyle’s travels between the states and to determine the cause of death.

Authorities request that anyone with information regarding Doyle or her disappearance contact the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office at (641)-421-3000.
