Looking for quality time on the ice in central Iowa? Your options are pretty limited.
West Des Moines is planning to build a $25 million facility on undeveloped land near the southwest part of the city near Grand Ave.
“Ice time is very valuable, we need more of it,” said West Des Moines City Manager Tom Hadden.
The site would include hockey and soccer, which are the driving forces behind more ice and turf. The city is confident they have all the pieces in place to make the project a reality through the existing hotel/motel tax.
