DES MOINES – If you frequent the Pappajohn Sculpture park in downtown Des Moines, you’ll notice that one of the big sculptures is missing. But not for long.
The sculpture is known as “Untitled: Three Dancing Figures,” and it’s being taken down and repainted.
“If you look at the red one you can really tell,” said Christine Doolittle, Marketing Director for the Des Moines Art Center. “It’s faded a lot in the elements, in the sun, in the snow, and all that. So it’s been on the schedule for a long time.”
Crews took down the sculpture Monday morning, figure by figure. It’ll be back to its original place in a few weeks.
