FORT DODGE — A 17-year-old Fort Dodge Senior High School student was found dead from a gunshot wound on Tuesday.
Responders were sent to 721 North 8th Street around 12:45, where officers found the victim in the residence. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The victim has been identified as Daiqualis Poe of Fort Dodge.
Local 5 obtained a voicemail that was sent out to parents to alert them that a student had been shot and killed.
“We were saddened to learn of the death of one of our senior students in an off campus incident today. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his family.”
The school district is reaching out to help students affected by this event.
“If you feel your high school child may need extra support at school, contact the Fort Dodge Senior High counseling office at 574-5775 to let his or her counselor know.”
