DES MOINES – The statement says that offensive social media posts made by the sergeant were not related to his termination.
Former Sgt. Dan Charleston was fired Friday. Earlier this month, Charleston had made controversial posts on his public Facebook page. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said that his termination was in the works before all this happened.
“It is important for the public to know that the recent social media postings made by Charleston about the Quran and Muslims were not a factor in any way with his separation from the sheriff’s office.”
