DES MOINES, Iowa — A large and well dressed crowd gathered for a Black Lives Matter sponsored march through parts of Downtown Des Moines on Wednesday.
The group started near the Polk County Treasury building on Court Avenue and marched to the Des Moines police station. The group then continued their march to the Capitol building.
The event was about breaking stereotypes and showing the community that these black men and women are not just athletes or entertainers, but real people with families.
This was a main reason for the formal attire they chose to wear Wednesday evening. To show strength and portray a powerful message in a peaceful and professional manner.
