SAC CITY, Iowa — UPDATE: As of 3:25 p.m. on Tuesday the Laurens Police Department has made contact with Amy Heitman and confirmed she is safe.
The Sac City Police Department is asking the public for help locating a missing woman.
Friends and family requested a welfare check for 44-year-old Amy Heitman on Monday. They last heard from Heitman around 9:30 p.m.
Police say Heitman was having car troubles, but did not answer the phone or share her location with family members. Police attempted to contact Heitman to no success.
Heitman is approximately 5'2" and 150 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Police say she is known to drive a black 1992 Chrysler LeBaron with the license plate OQV 268.
Police also noted Heitman was last seen leaving on foot from a friend's residence in Laurens (Pocahontas County), but did not specify when she left. Heitman may be wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt.
Anyone with information regarding Heitman's whereabouts is asked to call Sac City police at 712-662-7772.
