DES MOINES, Iowa — The iconic Budweiser Clydesdales will be visiting the Iowa State Fair this year to celebrate 14 years of partnership with Folds of Honor, a nonprofit that provides scholarships to families of fallen or disabled veterans and first responders.
This comes as the horses have embarked on a nationwide tour to promote the partnership alongside new corresponding Budweiser packaging.
The Clydesdales will parade around the fairgrounds every day of the fair (Aug. 8-18) starting at 5 p.m., with the exception of Aug. 13. The parades will begin in front of Elwell Family Park on 31st Street.
On Aug. 12, there will be a Folds of Honor check presentation for a local recipient at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand as a part of the daily Clydesdale parade. The presentation will take place at 5:20 p.m.
Folds of Honor said it has provided around 240 scholarships to Iowa residents.
Anheuser-Busch plans on making a donation to Folds of Honor based on the sales of the patriotically-packaged Budweisers sold between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
It defined its donation as $0.25 per case of limited-edition Budweiser (12 oz. cans and 16 oz. aluminum bottles) up to $1,700,00.00.
"As we reflect on the past 14 years, we are deeply grateful for Anheuser-Busch's enduring partnership and the profound impact it has had," said Folds of Honor Founder and CEO, Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, in a statement. "We’re thankful that Budweiser is once again taking its support on the road with a national Clydesdale tour to celebrate those who have served and their families and empower consumers to contribute to our cause as well."
