DES MOINES, Iowa — With a little less than six months to go until the 2024 Iowa State Fair, event organizers have just announced two more performances joining the 2024 Grandstand Concert Series.
Stand-up comedian Gabriel 'Fluffy' Iglesias will perform live on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. The Avett Brothers will perform the following day at 8 p.m.
As one of America's most well-known stand-up comedians, Iglesias has sold out venues such as Madison Square Garden, the Sydney Opera House and the Staples Center in Los Angeles, according to his website. He describes his comedy style as "a mixture of storytelling, parodies, characters and sound effects that bring his personal experiences to life."
Fans may recognize Iglesias from one of his three Netflix comedy specials or his sitcom, "Mr. Iglesias".
The Avett Brothers first broke into the mainstream with their 2009 debut, "I And Love And You", garnering critical acclaim and earning the band a place on the Billboard Top 200, according to the band's Spotify page.
The band continued to find success, with its 2016 album hitting No. 1 on Billboard's Top Albums Chart and scoring two Grammy nominations. The band was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame that same year.
With their unique sound combining bluegrass, folk and indie rock, The Avett Brothers bring a decidedly new sound to the 2024 Grandstand lineup.
