DES MOINES, Iowa — A bacon cheeseburger, a lobster roll and a "sm'oak'ed" roll headline the three finalists for the Iowa State Fair's 2024 Best New Food Contest.
The Iowa State Fair on livestreamed its 2024 New Food Contest in mid-July, an event where judges scored each of the 84 new foods that will be available at this year's fair. Among the 84 unique food items, 11 new foods advanced to the semifinal with three ultimately becoming finalists.
This year's top-three finalists are:
- The Bacon Cheeseburger Eggroll (Winn and Sara's Kitchen)
- The Lobster Corn Dog (Destination Grille)
- The Iowa Sm'oak'ed Roll (Whatcha Smokin? BBQ)
Voting for this year's contest runs from Aug. 8 through 14 and can be done either on the Iowa State Fair website or the official Iowa State fair app.
The winner will be announced on Friday, Aug. 16.
