DES MOINES – You can get your sweet corn fix again at Penick’s stands across the metro.
Today Mike Penick opened up his main stand in Carlisle, selling his prized sweet corn. It was originally supposed to open up on Saturday, but was pushed back until today. Penick says it’s a great feeling to be selling the corn again, and staying busy with the people he loves to see.
“I enjoy meeting the people. For 95% of the people, we enjoy the conversation, and they come back and they’re excited we’re here, and it’s kind of fun to do that,” said Penick.
The sweet corn truck will be set up along Highway 69 in Carlisle daily through September. You can buy the corn in packs of 3, 6 or 12.
Today and tomorrow there’ll be street vendors in various places around Des Moines.
Hy-Vee stores will have the corn shortly after the 4th. Starting next weekend the Des Moines Farmer’s Market will have it as well.
