IOWA – The National Council of Home Safety and Security has released a study revealing the safest cities around the United States. The study was conducted to show the cities that have the least amount of violent and non-violent crimes per population, while also bringing awareness to cities that have higher crime per capita.
Iowa has property crime rates 30% lower than the national average, but crime rates that are higher.
Iowa has an average crime rate of 1.11 per 1000, and an average property crime rate of .70 per 1000. This leaves Iowa at the 24th safest state for property crime (with 1st being the lowest). Iowa’s violent crime rate is above the national average, but below the national average on property crime rates.
