PELLA – A tornado ripped through Vermeer Manufacturing Thursday afternoon, tearing up buildings on the property, flipping over cars, and blowing out windows.
Sheets of metal roofing and a destroyed corn field the result. And Vermeer Manufacturing hit maybe the hardest.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been impacted,” Gov. Kim Reynolds said during a visit to the town.
Vermeer CEO Jason Andringa says 144 MPH winds pounded the company for a few minutes, destroying two buildings. But that’s not going to stop business.
“The process to rebuild starts now,” Andringa said. “And I am confident we will come back stronger than ever.”
