WAPELLO, Iowa — One man is dead and three more people are injured after a crash on Highway 34 on Sunday afternoon, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The accident report claims 37-year-old Tristan Zimmerman lost control of his truck while driving westbound on Highway 34 just before 3 p.m. on Sunday. He drifted off the road and into a ditch, overturning the truck. He was ejected from the vehicle.
The truck stopped in an upright position in a farm field, with all three passengers inside.
Tristan Zimmerman died from his injuries. Iowa State Patrol believes he was not wearing a seatbelt during the accident.
Responding crews transported the passengers — 32-year-old Shayla Zimmerman, a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old — to area hospitals for treatment.
