MARION COUNTY – It’s a rare situation when jurors get to leave the courtroom and see the crime scene of a murder. The jury did that on Tuesday the case of Carter vs. Carter.

The case involves a husband, Bill Carter, and his son, Jason Carter. Bill is suing Jason over his mother’s death. Shirley Carter was found murdered in her home in June 2015.

Local 5 was there with the jury on Tuesday too, following along with what the jury saw. They started at the Carter’s deck, and then moved into the kitchen. That’s where Shirley Carter was found murdered, shot to death. A murder weapon was never found.

After the jury went through the Carter home, they heard from Jason Carter.

“Deep down I don’t think my dad could do this, but my attorneys have showed me otherwise,” said Jason Carter. “He verbally told us, he said you know someday you kids, meaning Shelly and I and our kids will inherit ground.”

Bill Carter’s attorneys asked Jason about his affair. They called him a skilled liar on the stand.
