The Weather Channel displays racial slur on graphic that aired in Des Moines

The graphic was removed as soon as The Weather Channel was made aware.

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Weather Channel aired a graphic Thursday on its cable network "Local on the 8s" in Des Moines that included a racial slur. 

The Weather Channel reports it removed the graphic as soon as it was made aware.  

"This did not originate with us, and we are in the process of investigating it further. We apologize to our viewers," The Weather Channel said on Facebook.

The Weather Channel is a subscription-based television channel available across the United States. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the channel broadcasts local weather forecasts and other weather-related news.
