AMES – Fareway opened the company’s first Iowa meat market Tuesday at the former location of Wallaby’s and Sports Page in Ames.

The 5,000 square foot full-service meat market is located at 3720 Lincoln Way. The store is the third meat market store of its kind for the company, and the first in Iowa.

“We are excited to announce our first stand-alone Fareway Meat Market in Iowa,” said Fareway CEO Reynolds W. Cramer. “Our meat market stores continue to provide for growth potential in areas where a conventional, full size Fareway store may not fit. In these areas, we look to complement surrounding businesses by offering a unique experience. This market will showcase our unmatched, full-service meat department, expanded seafood and sushi, artisan cheeses, high quality wine, craft beer, as well as other unique offerings.”
