NEW YORK — An Xbox Live outage on Tuesday frustrated gamers as many were unable to access their account or play any games that require signing in, affecting most games and apps, for several hours.
The outage forced users out of their Xbox Live accounts, preventing them from playing most games, which largely require players to be logged in.
All services appeared to be back online just before 9 p.m. ET after Xbox said earlier Tuesday on social media that the investigation was "taking longer than expected."
"Users should no longer be encountering issues signing in to Xbox Live and services," the support Twitter account posted in an update. "Thank you for your patience, game on!"
Xbox did not say what caused the hours-long outage.
